How to Uninstall Boom

Here’s how to completely remove Boom from your system:

☝🏾 Note:

  • For macOS 15 or later: If you've already uninstalled Boom and only need to remove the camera extension, scroll to "Removing Boom's camera extension (macOS 15+)"

  • For macOS 14 and earlier: If you've already uninstalled Boom, first reinstall Boom and then follow the instructions for "Removing Boom from your system"

    Removing Boom from your system:

  1. Launch Boom

  2. Look for "Installers" in the menu bar at the top of your screen and click it


  1. Click "Uninstall Extension" 

    ☝🏾 Note: if you get an error after clicking “Uninstall Extension”, try clicking “Update Extension” first. You may be asked to restart your system after the update is complete. You can then click on “Uninstall Extension”.

  2. Quit Boom by clicking the “B” in the menu bar at the top of your screen and selecting “Quit Boom Completely”.


  1. From your Applications folder, move Boom to your trash 


Removing Boom's camera extension (macOS 15+): 

If you are on macOS 15 or later and you’ve already uninstalled Boom, follow these steps to quickly remove Boom’s camera extension from your system: 

  1. Open System Settings 


  2. Click on the following categories: 

    • General 

    • Login Items & Extensions 

    • Camera Extensions (scroll to the bottom of the window and click the "i") 

  3. Click the 3 dots next to Boom and then "Delete Extension"
